Ragging is a criminal offence. GEC Lakhisarai is committed to creating a fearless, friendly, and conducive environment for learning.
What Constitutes Ragging?
According to the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:
Verbal Abuse
Any conduct by any student whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher.
Psychological Harm
Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear.
Forced Activity
Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing shame or embarrassment.
Academic Disruption
Any act that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of a student.

Punishments & Consequences
Possible Disciplinary Actions:
Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
Cancellation of admission.
Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits.
Rustication from the institution for 1 to 4 semesters.
Debarring from appearing in any test/examination.
Filing of First Information Report (FIR) with the police.

Mandatory Anti-Ragging Affidavit
It is mandatory for every student and his/her parents to submit an anti-ragging affidavit at the time of admission. You can download the format or fill it online.
